This operation cannot be performed because the specified virtual disk could not be found.

Just had a customer who got the following error when booting a VM

"This operation cannot be performed because the specified virtual disk could not be found."

Turns out that sometimes if you have an ISO mounted in the DVD drive this can sometimes cause the above error.

Hope this helps someone out.

  4. Yep, had same problem after upgrading to 6.2.0

The "DVD Drive 1" entry was blank.. I hit the dropdown and selected "Empty"

  5. There should be a problem with you CIFS iso share. Please double check that. This issue only arrives if the iso library share link is broken or not reachable.

  6. This happens during creation of a new VM, have detached-forgotten and rebuilt NFS ISO library. Deleted VM and created new VM still have this error.. Thoughts? It is true if I Eject the DVD it attempts to boot, however I need the ISO to build the VM!

  8. Most helpful! I moved a handful of VMs to new storage, and the sole W10 VM wouldn't start (WTF moment!!), and this was the answer. Thanks for sharing.
